MANILA, Philippines --- The Department of Education (DepEd) should tap its "last-mile" schools program to provide needed high school education to students on Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Monday during the plenary debates on the proposed 2022 budget of the department. Recalling his visit to the island over the weekend, Lacson said he learned only one elementary school teacher and two multigrade teachers had been holding classes for 34 students in the area.
